Christmas Weekend Services

This Christmas we are thrilled to be celebrating the mystery of the Incarnation of God in the birth of Jesus together, both on the corner of Sellers and Nevin, and across the world through our streaming offering.

In order for our Christmas celebrations to remain safe and continue in our steadfast wellness practice, all Christmas services will require masking over mouth and nose. This is the easiest way to keep things safer for all people. The fans will be on, the windows open just a smidge, and we encourage you to do the practices that feel safest for you: such as hand washing/sanitizing. In the past, Christmas Eve services have been well attended and our pews filled to max capacity with buzzing enthusiasm and joy. If that brings you concern, but the yearning to make the journey to the nave still draws you, then this is a good time to recall that the older Episcopal tradition is focused on the Christmas Day liturgy (10:15 am).

There is no reservation system for the services, however, please be mindful that there is limited space and no one is guaranteed a favorite pew. We also ask that you keep any effort at seat saving to your immediate household. That being said, Musselman Hall will be set up as an overflow from the Sanctuary and doubles our in-building capacity. The service will be projected there and our ventilation system will be in use at both the 6pm and 9pm services. You may even choose to deliberately sit in Musselman Hall if you would like to feel the energy of our gathering, see friendly faces, but would like a little more elbow room for your covid concerns. We will send one of our clergy upstairs to Mussleman to share communion and blessings with those present.

The 6pm service will have choir and organ and hymns. We will haul out the pageant costumes and anyone who joins us (of any age) can participate in the interactive Nativity story sermon/micro-pageant. Costumes will be set out in Mussleman- all ages who want a costume should come at 5.30pm. You are also are invited to come in your own appropriate costume, all animals welcome. Service will be streamed inside the building to the overflow seating, but not publicly broadcast to the Youtube page for the privacy of our young people.

The 9pm service will have choir and organ and hymns and will be live-streamed for participating wherever you are. If this feels like the best option for your health, we encourage you to tune in online. It will begin shortly before 9 pm with two choral pieces.
