Sunday School & Godly Play

Nurturing the faith of children through story, wonder, and play.

Sunday School meets during the 10:00 AM service for children from pre-school through fifth grade. Children begin worship with the congregation and are dismissed before the Liturgy of the Word for age-appropriate formation.

Godly Play is our primary curriculum for younger children. Drawing on the Montessori tradition, Godly Play invites children into the great stories of Scripture through hands-on materials, wondering questions, and creative response.

Older children participate in a more structured curriculum that explores the Bible, church history, and Episcopal identity. All children return to the nave for the Liturgy of the Table and receive a blessing or Communion.

Adult Christian Education

Deepening faith through study, conversation, and community.

Adult formation at Christ Church takes many forms throughout the year. During the program year, a forum meets between the two Sunday services for topical study, guest speakers, and open discussion.

Topics have included Scripture study, church history, social justice, prayer practices, and engagement with contemporary issues facing the church and the world.

Special series are offered during Advent and Lent. All are welcome regardless of background or prior knowledge.

Outreach

Serving our neighbors as an expression of the Gospel.

Christ Church is committed to serving the broader community through direct service, advocacy, and partnership with local organizations.

Current outreach ministries include a monthly food pantry, participation in the Ridley Park community garden, and support for refugee resettlement through a diocesan partner.

The Outreach Committee meets regularly to discern new opportunities and coordinate parish involvement. New volunteers are always welcome.

The Gathering

A welcoming space for young adults to explore faith together.

The Gathering is an informal community for young adults in their 20s and 30s. It meets monthly for shared meals, conversation, and occasional service projects.

The Gathering is not a program but a community — a place to ask hard questions, build friendships, and find a home in the church.

Music Ministry

Lifting hearts and voices in praise and prayer.

Music is central to worship at Christ Church. The parish choir sings at the 10:00 AM service each Sunday and leads music for major feasts and holy days.

The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings and welcomes new singers of all experience levels. Instrumentalists are also invited to participate in special services.

The music program draws on a wide repertoire — from traditional Anglican choral music to contemporary hymns — always in service of the liturgy and the congregation's prayer.
