Life Events

The Church marks the great moments of human life with prayer, blessing, and the grace of the sacraments.

Baptism

Holy Baptism is the sacrament by which God adopts us as children and makes us members of Christ's Body, the Church. At Christ Church, we celebrate Baptism at the Great Vigil of Easter, the Day of Pentecost, All Saints' Day, and the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord — as well as at other times by arrangement with the rector.

We baptize people of all ages, including infants. Parents and godparents of young children are asked to meet with the rector before the baptism to prepare for the promises they will make on behalf of the child.

Confirmation

Confirmation is the rite by which we mature in the Christian life and, through prayer and the laying on of hands by the bishop, are strengthened for service. Those baptized as infants affirm their faith for themselves; those coming from other traditions are received into the Episcopal Church.

Preparation for Confirmation typically takes place over several months and includes study of Scripture, the creeds, the sacraments, and Episcopal identity. Contact the parish office to learn about the next Confirmation class.

Weddings

Christ Church celebrates the gift of marriage and welcomes couples who wish to be married in the church. The Episcopal Church blesses the marriages of all couples, regardless of gender.

Couples wishing to be married at Christ Church should contact the parish office at least six months in advance. Pre-marital preparation with the rector is required. The church is available for members and for those with a meaningful connection to the parish.

Funerals

The burial of the dead is an act of the whole Church. The Episcopal burial rite is a service of resurrection hope — we commend the departed to God's mercy and comfort those who mourn.

Christ Church is available for funeral and memorial services for members and their families. Please contact the parish office as soon as possible when a death occurs. The rector will work with the family to plan a service that honors the life of the deceased.

To arrange any life event, please contact the parish office at [email protected] or call 610-521-1626.

Coffee Hour

Fellowship is not an afterthought — it is part of what it means to be the Church.

Coffee Hour follows the 10:00 AM service every Sunday in the parish hall. All are welcome — whether you are a longtime member or visiting for the first time, we hope you will stay and get to know us.

Coffee Hour is hosted by different groups and families throughout the year. If you would like to host, please contact the parish office. It is a simple and meaningful way to serve the community.

Little Library of Love

A free community book exchange, open every day.

The Little Library of Love is a free community book exchange located on the church grounds at 104 Nevin Street. Anyone is welcome to take a book or leave a book — no library card required, no questions asked.

The library is stocked with fiction, nonfiction, children's books, and more. It is open every day of the year, rain or shine. We are grateful to the volunteers who keep it stocked and tidy.

If you would like to donate books or help maintain the library, please contact the parish office. It is one of the small ways Christ Church tries to be a blessing to the neighborhood.
