Stations of the Cross at Ridley Park Lake

Friday, April 7, 2023, 12:00 PM

Meet outdoors for a prayerful walk around the lake.

The physical act of journeying through Jesus’ last hours is a practice that goes back to the 12th century. Through prayers, motion, art, and story we are invited into the whole truth of the grief and terribleness of Good Friday. As you know we have a wonderful set of 10 Biblical stations of the cross in our nave. All persons are welcome at any time to use one of the two booklets that go with the stations and pray deeply as you walk around the nave. The more common ‘Way of the Cross' is one of 14 stations, four of which arise from the experience and imagination of the faithful but are not from scripture. There are also versions that are 14 Biblical stations, including one that is being offered for optional use in the Episcopal church. We will be using the 14 Station version as we make our way around the lake. We go out into the world to follow Jesus in the world in which he is present, being ignored and trampled in every day, and the world he rises in every day. Bring your good shoes and a coat if needed and an umbrella if needed. All ages are encouraged to walk this sacred way.

Meet near the small parking lot across from the middle school to begin.

Stewardship Donate Pledge Altar Flowers

Holy God who calls the world into being, who calls us into Christ’s church; we thank you for the church that is our heart, for the mission of the church that is our joy, and for the ministry of the church that is our task. We thank you for the generosity of Christ Church, Ridley Park, for its steadfastness over time, for its faithful witness, wholehearted life, and its abundant caring ways. Make us courageous, make us ready, make us open, that we may become a resounding Alleluia through your passion and into your victory. We pray in the name of Jesus crucified and risen, wholehearted Shepherd of the Church. Amen.

Donate to Christ Church in support of the life, ministry, and witness of Jesus Christ. Contribute online to a particular collection or make a one-time donation under "non-pledge".

Give Online

Money is a lifeless substance, but without it, life as we know it isn’t possible. It takes funding to offer worship, fellowship, maintain buildings, care for one another. One of the steadfast ways that we offer gratefulness to God is through a pledge commitment.
