Rooted in Abundance

As our annual stewardship campaign gets underway, we use the phrase “Rooted in Abundance” to remind us that we should be inspired to give because so much has been given to us. Not only does God give us the necessary practical thing that is a tree, but also the extravagent display that are autumn leaves, the soft promises of springtime buds, and the decadent shade of summertime. These gifts of God’s wonderous creation are more than we require and call to us to share our own abundance with the world. As God’s gifts to us go beyond necessity or merit, our own giving should not be transactional – we are not called to give in proportion to how we feel we have benefitted or suffered – rather we are called to give as a response to the abundance we are gifted.

Beyond the everyday work of running our own church, we labor to unlock the creativity that grows our sacred mission like the rings on a tree. To that end, we not only seek to collaborate with other people, institutions, and churches to serve our neighbors, but we also strive to form generous, grateful hearts through our worship, education programs and social events. Like a tree, we dig deep to find what nourishes us while reaching outward to share our growth; we transform the raw intentions and potential of our good hearts into the tangible expressions of work, service, and joy the world needs from us.

This year, as you pray about your financial commitment to our church, please tap into the same abundance shown to us by the extravagent gifts we receive everyday from God. Thank you for your generosity, your intangible strength, and your prayerful consideration of your pledge to Christ Church.

In gratitude,
The Finance Committee

The last Sunday of our campaign is November 19th. Please send or submit your gifts by that date so that we may gather them together and bless them at the in-gathering.
