Maundy Thursday

Everytime we celebrate the Holy Eucharist we use the word remember repeatedly. It isn’t just about mental recall of an idea or a story. We are re-membering, a direct translation of it would be like putting together the body parts of an action figure that has been disassembled. In the Eucharist we are putting back together the experience of the ancients in our bodies and minds and hearts. The movements of our Maundy Thursday experience intend to bring this re-membering into a deeper intensity. So we begin in the ‘upper room’ our Mussleman Hall. We being with an interpersonal servant ministry of washing (hands), similar to what would have occurred when the disciples and Jesus came into the upper room. We then share a meal then flow directly into the readings and communion at table with Jesus’ friends. Then we move down through the ‘garden’ to the sanctuary where the altar is cleared and washed, almost as if we are preparing the tomb for Jesus’ burial. If gathering together is not feasible we strongly encourage you to make use of the Home Agape materials and video from previous years that is available on our website.

The Maundy Thursday Dinner Church meal will be (drum roll please......) a Pasta Bar! There will be choices for all tastes; pasta, variety of sauces, meatballs, veggies, salads, and bread! It's time for family dinner. The table is set, the invitation is wholehearted, we have a seat ready for you.
