Stations of the Cross at Ridley Park Lake
April 7, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Meet outdoors for a prayerful walk around the lake.
The physical act of journeying through Jesus’ last hours is a practice that goes back to the 12th century. Through prayers, motion, art, and story we are invited into the whole truth of the grief and terribleness of Good Friday. As you know we have a wonderful set of 10 Biblical stations of the cross in our nave. All persons are welcome at any time to use one of the two booklets that go with the stations and pray deeply as you walk around the nave. The more common ‘Way of the Cross’ is one of 14 stations, four of which arise from the experience and imagination of the faithful but are not from scripture. There are also versions that are 14 Biblical stations, including one that is being offered for optional use in the Episcopal church. We will be using the 14 Station version as we make our way around the lake. We go out into the world to follow Jesus in the world in which he is present, being ignored and trampled in every day, and the world he rises in every day. Bring your good shoes and a coat if needed and an umbrella if needed. All ages are encouraged to walk this sacred way.
Meet near the small parking lot across from the middle school to begin.
