Journey Through Narnia
September 21, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
2022 Adult Formation with The Reverend Jane Gober
Have you heard the suggestion that the Narnia series has something to do with the path of Christian discipleship? Did you read them when you were young and just the notion tickles something true inside of you? Narnia 2022 will journey through the seven short novels in their published order, beginning with ‘the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe’ and finishing with ‘the Last Battle’. We will explore one book a month, discussing the book itself and learning more about the ways in which the entire core belief and practice of Christian disciples is creatively offered to all ages through the Narnian Chronicles.
The books are very easy to find new and second-hand, from libraries, digitally, and in audiobook formats. The order of the books numbering changed in the 1990’s, so always look for the correct title.
We will read and discuss across 2022, meeting on the Third Wednesdays of the month from 7-8p, except for April (Holy Week) and the summer. Narnia 2022 intends to meet in a hybrid fashion, both in-person and available on Zoom, at the discretion of diocese COVID guidance. Zoom can be accessed on the web and by calling in via a mobile phone or landline. We invite you to feel the lion’s kiss, encounter the story of salvation, and enter the adventure with a mature mind and a child’s faith.
This is intended and shaped for adult learners, however, older children are welcome to join with an adult, and all youth are also welcome. We hope that households will also follow along with the journey and share in reading the Narnian books together.
