Shadows

A Tenebrae adaption with readings both sacred and secular that lay bare the brokenness and grief of human life. The good news of Jesus Christ, the glory of Easter is only so brilliant because of the sin and brokenness and lament of our lives. Tenebrae basically means Shadows – it takes a long hard look at the soot and ash and terrible. This is part of our duty as the faithful – to honestly examine our lives and the world we live in. The service of Tenebrae is varied across Christian traditions and time. Here we offer a contemplative liturgy of readings from Scripture and from secular sources, mostly fictional
