#igotmine! I have never had a flu shot. Over 20 years ago I was told not to by a physician, because of my having had Lyme disease and chronic issues from that. In recent years my physicians have said it shouldn’t be a problem, but since I haven’t had a bad flu, I could keep waiting. As the Covid-19 vaccine was rolled out, I have to admit I was scared, mostly because I had read somewhere that maybe it could cause a post-Lyme flare up. Yet I also was quick to sign up for mine when the Diocese of Pennsylvania opened a clinic for all clergy and church staff. I knew that my duty to protect those around me was greater than any fears. I didn’t have any reactions that other people didn’t have. I continue to be careful in my relationships and mask and distance and keep my hands clean. Because of my duty to love my neighbors. And now, I have an appointment for my first flu shot too.

Dennis Bingham, Deacon

It was a no brainer. A deacon friend of mine who also serves as a nurse in a hospital, had many sad stories of people he cared for. I did not want to become a statistic and received my 2 doses by April. I feel much better knowing even if I were to come down with Covid, it would not be a life and death situation.

I GOT MINE! Why you might ask? I got mine because I want to protect my loved ones. Getting the COVID 19 vaccine can be the difference between life and death. I chose Life!

#igotmine to be a team player in community safety and wellness. Getting the COVID-19 vaccine was an action rooted in love for those around me, including the young friend active in the life of CCRP. Being vaccinated and keeping other care-filled practices allow me to safely see my family in New Jersey frequently during the pandemic.

Zebra Land

I look ok; I don’t look ill.

But you don’t see my medical bills.

To function just from day to day

Takes enormous strength and a determined way.

Infusions, nurses and medication

Are part of my weekly Regimentation.

Five needles come with this needed routine Along with pre-meds and Keeping my sites clean.

You wouldn’t know it to look at me,

But I make no antibodies you see.

So what you perceive is a healthy soul.

Be careful; don’t judge,

as I’m not quite whole.

There’s one in 50,000 people like me

who long before Covid

strived to keep places

germ free.

So please if you could

Consider the cost

Of vaxing and masking

Before more people are lost.
