Creation Season
In recent years, the necessity of being stewards of God’s creation has become more and more important. Roman Catholics, Orthodox, Protestants, and Anglicans have created a season which lifts up the importance of this responsibility. Creation Season begins on September 1, the start of the new Church year in the Orthodox Church. The start date coincides with the Jewish feast of the creation of the world, Rosh Hashanah, and concludes on the feast of the patron saint of the environment, St. Francis of Assisi. Throughout the Fall, we will be using Eucharistic Prayer C, which speaks of the earth as our “fragile island home”. How can we as a faith community be better stewards of God’s creation?
