Advent 2022

Advent is the new beginning. It is a chilly wandering walk as the secular calendar ends and the winter wonderland marathon kicks into full speed. The cycle of the planet leads us here in North America towards the longer darkness of winter, which echoes both the dawn and conclusion of the Creation. The word “Advent” comes from the Latin adventus, which means “coming” or “arrival.” Advent prepares us for, and leads us to, Jesus’ birth as a vulnerable human being. Christmas is not here yet, we must wait and examine how we have failed to live as God’s people, which is why there is Christmas at all. The color of the season is sarum blue, an outward sign of our truth telling and our hope as we walk the path to the coming of the Christ child
Christ church invites you to embrace the advent season with us. We have opportunities to engage in-person and at-home whatever space helps you best unplug from the oncoming winter wonderland.
